Bulawayo Boy (14) arrested for attempted murder after beer bottle stabbing

POLICE in have arrested a 14-year-old boy from Pumula East in connection with an attempted murder case involving a 17-year-old teenager.

According to Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the incident occurred on 23 May 2026 at around 11PM at Pumula East Shops.

“The accused person and complainant, a male juvenile aged 17 years of Pumula North, Bulawayo, were at Pumula East Shops where they had a misunderstanding over an undisclosed issue. The accused then stabbed the complainant once on his back with a broken beer bottle and went away.”

“The complainant was later discovered by Police officers on patrol who found him lying on the ground. Upon checking, they noted that he had a stab wound on the rib cage and could not speak. He was ferried to Mpilo (Central) Hospital for medical attention and investigations were conducted, leading to the arrest of the accused.”

Insp Msebele warned members of the public against resorting to violence when resolving disputes.

“We warn members of the public against the use of violence in resolving differences. We also warn perpetrators of such crimes that the long arm of the law always catches up with them. As the police, we will not rest until all criminals are brought to book,” said Insp Msebele.
