BULAWAYO BUS OWNER IN US$16 000 Debt Dispute: Bruising court battle ensues

POLICE in Bulawayo are investigating Timothy Moyo (64), owner of Dewa Bus and Coach Services and former UK resident, following allegations of fraud by a Bulawayo woman, Sithabisiwe Ncube.

Ncube claims she lent Moyo and his wife, Astrid Bernett Moyo, US$16 000 in 2023, with an acknowledgement of debt signed by the couple, promising full repayment by April 2024.

Only US$1 000 was paid via World Remit, leaving US$15 000 outstanding. Ncube then pursued a civil case, winning on 10 January 2025, and had part of the couple’s property attached and sold for US$9 411. This leaves a remaining balance of US$5 589 owed to her.

During the process, Ncube alleges Moyo filed a fraud case against her, claiming she had forged an acknowledgement of debt to inflate the amount owed from US$6 000 to US$16 000, and misrepresented the document in court to attach her property valued at US$30 000.

The matter was first heard on 17 October, with the State and defence cross-examining Moyo, and the case is set to continue on Friday.

Ncube is represented by Tinashe Tashaya of Tashaya Law Chambers.
