Versatile artiste Fatima Katiji aka Stimela continues to make remarkable strides as a solo performer, having successfully completed a seven-week tour across Europe, where she showcased her diverse artistic talents.
The tour, which ran from September 6 to October 24, saw Stimela performing in multiple cities as part of the theatre production Dambudzo, a piece inspired by Dambudzo Marechera’s acclaimed book House of Hunger.
The project was a collaboration with renowned Zimbabwean creative Nora Chipaumire, under her international arts collective Company Chipaumire.\

Reflecting on the experience, Stimela described the journey as “a life-changing opportunity” that fulfilled one of her long-held dreams.
“This has been the most beautiful and exciting experience ever. Growing up, I used to watch cartoons and imitate the characters and music, always dreaming of performing in the Disney Hall Theatre, and there I was, seeing it unfold before my eyes.

“Maybe one of these fine days, I’ll make it to Broadway,” she said.
Stimela added that the European audiences were highly receptive, with “almost all the shows sold out”.
Despite her growing solo footprint, Stimela assured fans that she remains firmly rooted in the Jah Prayzah 3rd Generation Band, where she continues to contribute her vocal and performance expertise.
“Of course, I’m still part of Jah Prayzah’s band. I’ve been travelling and coming back to work with them for the past five years,” she said.
“I’m always in the studio doing jingles, adverts, helping others with vocals, and polishing my own music.”
