Bulawayo businessman, Brian Samuriwo, equips Nust FM with solar power to ensure continuous broadcasting

PROMINENT Bulawayo businessman Cde Brian Samuriwo has equipped the National University of Science and Technology’s (Nust) campus radio station NUST FM with solar systems addressing power cuts which were disruptive to continuous broadcasting.
The system allows the university radio station to broadcast even when there is load shedding as some areas go for up to 12 hours without power.

Equipment at Nust FM is only consuming 20 percent of the installed solar system.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Nust Vice Chancellor Professor Mqhele Dlodlo said the university risked losing its license due to failure to be continuously on air.
On the other hand, Cde Samuriwo said he received a distress call from the university and could not sit back and watch the station closing down.
During the handover ceremony, both Prof Dlodlo and Cde Samuriwo went live on air unpacking some of their programmes.

Cde Samuriwo, who is also Zanu PF Provincial Business Secretary said, through the donation he was responding to President Mnangagwa’s call that only Zimbabweans can develop the country.
“I’m a Bulawayo bred through and through and it’s only us from Bulawayo who can develop our region,” said Cde Samuriwo.
