The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Southern Region Division One league match saw a massive turnout for Mainline FC, with a significant surge in fan attendance compared to their previous home games.

The first half was a closely contested affair, with both teams showcasing their skills and maintaining equal possession.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically in 34 minutes when Bulawayo Chiefs’ striker Kelvin Madzongo unleashed a precision shot on target, sending Mainline FC fans into a state of panic.

Fortunately, goalkeeper Anxious Mutanda was equal to the task, making a crucial save by clutching the ball firmly to his chest. The stadium fell silent, with Mainline FC fans frozen in fear as the “MaNinjas” began to demonstrate their formidable prowess.

The atmosphere at the stadium was reignited in spectacular fashion just six minutes later, when Mainline FC’s striker Thaloso Ndlovu unleashed a shot on target in 39 minutes. The Mainline FC faithful erupted into joyous songs and chants, with the stadium reverberating with renewed energy and excitement.

The second half saw both teams continue to battle it out on the pitch, with neither side giving an inch. The intensity picked up in 66 minutes when Panashe Shoko of Bulawayo Chiefs FC was cautioned with a yellow card, and the warnings continued into the final minutes, with Raphael Manuvire joining him on the yellow list in the 88th minute.

“This time we did manage to attract so much people, said Siza Mguni, Head coach for Mainline FC, simply because we realised that Sunday is the day with the most number of people who are not going to work that is why we opted to change the match from playing on Saturday to Sunday. We had 304 fans, +/- 100 kids who entered for free.”

The match leaves Mainline FC “Iziratha” sitting in position 14 with 8 points on the log sheet, whilst Bulawayo Chiefs FC “MaNinjas” sits on position 1 with 19 points.
