Bulawayo Chiefs score a first

Descent Dube, Sports Reporter
BULAWAYO Chiefs has become the first football club in the Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League to get their Twitter account verified.

Amakhosi Amahle got a blue tick in the microbloging site last week on Wednesday last week.

Being verified means authentication and confirmation of a true account.

Twitter verifies accounts that belong to celebrities and famous personalities who might be subject to identity theft on the social networks.

League debutants Bulawayo Chiefs have arguably been the best club in terms of utilising Twitter. So far they have more than 8 000 followers.

The account becomes the first verified account from Bulawayo.

Dubbed the “best football club handle in Zimbabwe”, Bulawayo Chiefs’ constant activity on Twitter seems to have inspired almost all the PSL clubs to use Twitter as a medium of communication.

Soon after getting verification, the giant slayers sarcastically posted on Twitter: “As always we love to play it cool. Just monitoring to check if our haters have noticed that BLUE TICK of verification. No names will be mentioned here. Let’s just wait a bit and we will come back with a Thank you message to all of you that have supported us.” — @DecoDecent2
