Bruce Ndlovu
Songstress Sandra Ndebele and man of the momentA Nkululeko a?Khuliyoa? Nkala are going live in concert as headline acts.
Their ambitious drive is set to prove if Bulawayo artistes have what it takes to be stars of their own shows instead of the usual curtain raiser tag.
a?During my album launch I performed with Sandra and judging by the crowd reception on the day I would say the song was a hit. It is from there that we got the idea to do a fully fledged show,a? Nkala said.
There was a time in 2010 when Alick Macheso would stage shows with Tongai Moyo to maximise on their stardom as separate artistes and also to cash in on their highly publicised duel.
But for Ndebele and Nkala (ABOVE) itas a different ball game. Sandra Ndebele in her own right is an established artiste while Nkala is budding, hence making their attempt a big gamble but they are willing to make.
a?There will be more shows because we want to grow the idea of artistes coming together for a common goal,a? he said.
Since Nkala and Ndebele predict a bumper crowd by merely looking at the figures they registered at an invites only album launch, there is a lot of work to be done to get the same number of people at least, worse as a paying audiance.
Itas a Bulawayo affair, curtain raisers will be drawn from local groups such as Sungura Masters.
