NINETEEN players will represent Bulawayo Metropolitan Province at next month’s Easter National Darts competition that will run from April 17-21 in Mutare. The players will now compete for places in the national team that will compete in the Region Five Games later this year.
Brian Ndlovu and Simon James who were instrumental in Archers winning the 2013 championship alongside Mgcini Nkala of Railstars and ZRP Bulawayo’s Jonis Chiduwo were part of Team Bulawayo that participated at last year’s Heroes tournament held at Hillside Teachers’ College.
Some of the players that are carrying the team’s hopes in the men’s category are Tapela Makado, Kerapatsi Mleya, Munyaradzi Dave, Benjamin Dube and Lethukuthula Nkomo.
Nkomo, a member of the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League committee is confident that they will bring medals from Mutare.
“The first stage of selecting a provincial squad was done a few weeks ago and we shall be using the league matches as part of our preparations for the Easter competition.
“We hope to bring the trophy to Bulawayo this time around. We are more than prepared. The guys are training hard to make it to the national team to be selected in July.
“Remember Zimbabwe is hosting the Region Five tournament this year and the guys want to be part of the national team and it is at such competitions where players are shortlisted to represent the country,” said Nkomo.
