DREAM Star Zimbabwe 2015 Bulawayo semi-final lived up to its billing as the contestants gave their best performances and people came in numbers.
The semi-final was held at a local hotel on Saturday evening and Bulawayo artistes were the winners.
Their vibrant energy and diversity stood out hence they beat contestants from other cities and towns.
It was survival of the fittest as the judges only wanted 10 groups from the all the categories to proceed to the finals.
Aisha Doll, Juandez Apongo, MJ Sings, Petros Zimuto, Snippers Crew, Super Gieeks, Mitchelle Musopero, Djembe Natives, Master Ndou Arts, Takura Dondo and Nyasha Dengani will represent Bulawayo at the finals in Harare on October 3.
Master Ndou Arts, a group of young boys definitely brought China to Zimbabwe with their coordinated karate moves.
Leonard Mapfumo, who was one of the judges alongside Queen of Dance, Sandra Ndebele and hip-hop sensation Cal_Vin, said the competition was tough as everyone was talented especially in the dance category.
“The dance category was the toughest to select winners as the groups were all good. Everyone gave their best performance but we had to find a winner,” Mapfumo said.
Lucky cultural groups will be selected to travel to China for a cultural exchange programme before the final competition.
Last year’s competition was won by Harare’s Divine Chitumbura and The Incredibles.
