BULAWAYO duo Mtha and Mg to the World are continuing their mission to create timeless and relatable music that fuses indigenous roots with global sounds, and this has seen them release a profoundly moving new single, “Ngiyesaba.”

Mtha (Mthandazo Ngwenya) and Mg to the World (Gcinithemba Moyo), known for their genre-fluid approach and commitment to crafting “wholesome music for the people”, describe “Ngiyesaba” as far more than just a song. It is, according to Mtha, “a heartfelt prayer wrapped in melody – a moment of surrender to God.”

The track delves into the universal human experience of vulnerability and the search for divine reassurance.

“In this song, Mtha and Mg to the World confess the fear of walking through this world alone and choose trust over uncertainty. It speaks to the tired soul, searching, and honest about how hard life can be, especially for those who long to find God while looking for Him in mountains and valleys, not realising He is near. Ngiyesaba is about submitting, believing, and holding on when the road feels overwhelming,” explained Mtha who is now based in Harare.

This powerful message of faith amidst fear is carried by the distinct, “sound and spirit” of Bulawayo. Adding to the homegrown authenticity, the track was produced by the talented Collin, a young producer based in the city, showcasing the raw talent and creativity flourishing within Bulawayo. As the release statement notes, it serves as, “proof that purpose doesn’t need perfection, just truth.”

“Ngiyesaba” arrives as the fourth single under the Mtha and Mg to the World collaborative banner, following last year’s releases “Khumbula ekhaya (3-Step)” and “Ngiyacela (Afro-pop)”. It joins a growing discography that includes well-received tracks like “Khuleka,” “Xolela,” “Skorokoro,” “Ngabe,” “Tholukuthi (Here to Stay),” and “Sabela.”

Fans can anticipate more music soon, with Mtha revealing, “We are also dropping another 3-step track next month.”

The duo, celebrated for their ability to touch diverse audiences by turning “any sound into gold,” aims for “Ngiyesaba” to echo deeply. It’s positioned as an anthem, “for those in the in-between, searching for reassurance and strength,” carrying the clear message: “you’re not alone.”

Available now across all major digital music platforms, “Ngiyesaba” invites listeners to press play, listen closely, and allow its message of surrender and hope to speak directly to the heart. – Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
