TWO Bulawayo-based companies have offered to provide vocational training skills to returning Zimbabweans in response to Government’s calls for the public and private sector to provide a soft landing for the returnees.
Speaking during the handover of two tonnes of sorghum and millet mealie-meal at the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) transit centre in Njube on Monday, Bhiza Chemicals managing director, who was also representing Ubuntu Foods, Mr Sunungurai Bhiza, said the two companies were ready to assist the returnees with life-changing skills.

The donations were received by Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Judith Ncube.
“The other thing that we looked into is that some of these returnees are unskilled while others are skilled and as companies, we have the knowledge in various skills,” said Mr Bhiza.
He said the companies would go through the database of the returnees to identify those who could benefit from the training.

Mr Bhiza said the returnees would be trained in various projects, including chemical manufacturing and confectionery.
“We want to see life into these people who are coming back so that they know and have something to start from,” he said.
Responding to the commitment by the two companies, Minister Ncube said it was humbling that the call for an all-hands-on-deck approach to the repatriation programme was being positively responded to by both the church and the private sector.
“This is pleasing and it’s what exactly the Government has been calling for. As Government, we need to push this and ensure that it becomes a resounding success,” said Minister Ncube.
