Bulawayo gears up for 45th Independence Day celebrations at White City stadium

PREPARATIONS for the 45th Independence Day Bulawayo provincial celebrations scheduled for tomorrow at White City Stadium are now at an advanced stage.

The event will be presided over by Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube.

Government and city authorities are working together with various other stakeholders to ensure a smooth event.

A significant element of the morning proceedings will be a march by drum majorettes, starting from D-Square at 07:30 am. T

The procession will make its way to White City Stadium, heralding the start of the official proceedings.

Following the formal proceedings, the celebrations will feature a high-profile sporting event, the Provincial Independence Cup match between local football giants Highlanders and Chicken Inn.

This highly anticipated clash is expected to draw a large crowd of football enthusiasts.

Minister Ncube will also host a luncheon for senior citizens aged 85 and above in recognition of their contributions to the nation’s independence and development.

This event is scheduled to take place at the Large City Hall on Sunday, April 20, at noon.
