After an epic, multi-country trek through Africa, cycling adventurers and couple Thando Tshuma and Vusumuzi Mnkandla finally reached Zimbabwe last month, bringing them tantalisingly close to the finish line of their awe-inspiring journey.

To mark their triumphant return, a warm and joyous welcome party is planned for their arrival in Bulawayo on April 19th at 10am.

Friends, family and admirers of this intrepid duo will come together to celebrate their accomplishment and share in their exhilarating homecoming.

The couple began its epic expedition in Bulawayo on April 10, 2024, cycling through South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and their native Zimbabwe.

Having re-entered Zimbabwe through Kanyemba Border Post in March, the two are set to arrive at Kamandazi in Bulawayo, after spending the last few days in the Midlands Province.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the organisers and everyone involved in planning our upcoming welcome event,” Tshuma said.

The couple has pedalled its way into record books, completing an astounding 13 300km journey that has seen Tshuma become the first black female bicycle traveller from Zimbabwe.
