Director Tapiwa Sithole said preparations have now reached a crucial stage.
“We’re already witnessing growing interest in the competition, which shows that chorale music is alive and thriving in our communities,” said Sithole.

A total of 56 participants initially registered for the event, but six later withdrew, leaving 50 contestants set to compete. Among those who withdrew was Ubuntu Voices, which pulled out all its participants. The reasons for the withdrawal have not yet been confirmed.

The competition has faced a few challenges, including limited funding and some participants failing to complete their performances in earlier rounds. However, organisers say this has not affected the spirit of the event.
“Generally, people loved this competition a lot. It’s not just about winning, but bringing singers together and giving them a platform to grow,” Sithole said.

Sithole said the competition is also focused on developing talent for bigger platforms.
“Mastering these pieces requires both technical precision and emotional expression. This is a platform that can shape their musical journey,” he said.
