THE mining town of Gwanda will next Wednesday turn to a battlefield as one of the most anticipated derbies takes place with ZRP Gwanda FC hosting Super Strikers FC at Phelandaba.
After five games played, Super Strikers FC have not tested victory, after drawing three matches and losing two. They are 15th on the log with three points.

ZRP Gwanda are 12th with four points after one game in which they drew one and lost three matches.
Both teams have a lot at stake as they have had a bad start to the season.
ZRP Gwanda kicked off their campaign with a loss to Sabi Gold Mine who beat them 2-0. Super Strikers also faced the same fate against Shabanie Mine.
On matchday 2, Super Strikers stood tall to hold Gwanda Pirates to a nil all draw in one of the most fierce derbies in the town. ZRP Gwanda fell at home to Kwekwe United 1-0.
On Week 3, Super Strikers earned another point from a 1-1 draw against West Nicholson. ZRP Gwanda were thrashed by log leaders Chapungu FC 4-0.
On matchday 4, ZRP Gwanda drew 1-1 with Shurugwi FC while the match between Super Strikers and Dulibadzimu FC ended 0-0.
Week 5 saw ZRP Gwanda registering their first win in an away match at Mandava Stadium where they thrashed FC Platinum Under-19 4-1. The match between Tongogara and Super Strikers was not played as the latter arrived late.
