BULAWAYO journalists will today exchange their pens and microphones for football boots when they take on Highlanders Legends as part of the belated World Press Freedom Day celebrations.

The match will be held at Highlanders Club house.

The journos will take the opportunity to avenge their numerous, often by huge margins, losses to the Highlanders legends who will be driven by the ageless Douglas Mloyi.

The legends and former players will equally be keen to continue their dominance over the scribes.

However, Ngqwele Dube, the scribes’ captain, was optimistic that his colleagues will put up a disciplined show this time around and shock their tactically gifted opponents.

“We can’t be their punch bags forever, it’s time we stood up to them,” said Dube.

The scribes will look up to the likes of defender Tinomuda Chakanyuka, roving player Dumisani Nsingo, ageless Phineas Mukwazo, lanky Fungai Muderere and Fortune Muzarabani who on his day can match anyone.

Mehluli Sibanda is likely to be in goal for the scribes but must brace for some ferocious shots from Jerry Sibanda and Zenzo Moyo, who are chairman and vice chairman of Bulawayo City respectively.

Cosmos Zulu will give the journalists’ team some touchline instructions.

Annastacia Ndlovu one of the organisers of the celebrations said all journalists were welcome to the celebrations, which internationally, are held on May 3.

Former journalist, now Makonde MP, Kindness Paradza will be the guest of honour.
