Bulawayo magistrate resigns

A Bulawayo magistrate Mr Batanai Tuwe has resigned from Government to join the private sector.

Sources close to Mr Tuwe said he was set to join a Bulawayo law firm.

Mr Tuwe is the third magistrate to resign after Marylen Mtshina and Abednico Ndebele who resigned last month.

Chief Magistrate Mr Mishrod Guvamombe confirmed Mr Tuwe’s resignation yesterday.

Mr Tuwe declined to comment saying professional regulations did not allow him to talk to the media.

“The Judicial Service Commission regulations do not allow magistrates to give comments to the media without the consent of the secretary,” he said.

Mr Tuwe was sworn in as a magistrate in 2014 and has been stationed at Tredgold Magistrate’s Court since then.

He was a lawyer at Shumba and Partners Legal Practitioners in Harare before joining the bench.
