A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of sodomising a 12 year juvenile.
The man cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim. He appeared before the Bulawayo Western Commonage resident magistrate Mrs Sibongile Marondedze who remanded him in custody to 25 October 2024 for continuation of trial.
According to the State case presented by Ms Christine Manyika the sexual assault occurred sometime in August. She told the court that the accused and the complainant did not know each other prior to the event.
The court heard that on the date unknown in August 2024 the accused saw the complainant who was herding goats and sheep in the bush and indecently assault him.
“The complainant was herding goats and sheep in the bush when the accused came to him and forcefully grabbed the complainant’s hand, forcibly making him lie die down,” said Ms Manyika.
She said the accused sodomised the complainant. The matter came to light when the complainant confided in his father, who reported the matter to the police.
