A 42-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has been fined US$150 for repeatedly hitting his wife with a 3kg gas cylinder during a domestic dispute.

MacLean Mwase of Pumula North appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga and pleaded guilty to a charge of physical abuse. He was ordered to pay the fine by September 30, failing which he will serve two months in prison.

Prosecuting, Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that the incident occurred on August 30 at around 7.30 AM.

“Mwase and his wife, Constance Hweru, were at their home when a domestic dispute broke out. The accused became violent, grabbed a 3kg gas cylinder and struck his wife several times on the back,” she said.

The complainant sustained internal injuries and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment. A police report was made, leading to Mwase’s arrest.
