Bulawayo man jailed 8 months for stealing Sumsung S23 Ultra phone

A 28-year-old Bulawayo man has been sentenced to eight months in prison for stealing a Samsung S23 Ultra phone that the complainant had left on charger.

Bruce Mpendulo Nyathi of Lower Rangemore appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was initially sentenced to 12 months in prison of which four months were suspended for three years on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining eight months are effective.
Prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete said on March 13, 2026 at around 5.30PM the complainant Sherpard Ndlovu (41) left his cellphone a Samsung S23 Ultra on the charger inside his house and went outside for errands.

The court heard that the accused person entered complainant’s house, took the cellphone and went to Tshabalala where he was tracked by complainant leading to his arrest.

The complainant’s cellphone was recovered, said Mr Dzimbanhete.
