A 35-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for stabbing another man with a piece of mirror glass following a misunderstanding at a local bar.
Vusumuzi Ncube of Makokoba suburb was convicted of attempted murder by Bulawayo magistrate Mr Shingai Mutiro.
He was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment, with six months suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence during that period.
The court heard that on June 8 at around 7PM, Ncube and the complainant, Nkazimulo Tshuma, were drinking beer at a bar in Makokoba when a misunderstanding broke out between them.
The situation escalated after Ncube allegedly insulted Tshuma.
The court heard that Ncube then armed himself with a piece of mirror glass and stabbed Tshuma once on the head, resulting in him sustaining a cut.
Tshuma reported the matter at Mzilikazi Police Station, leading to Ncube’s arrest.
He was subsequently referred to hospital for medical examination following the attack.
