A nurse stationed at United Bulawayo Hospital was recently robbed of US$225 and two cell phones while using a footpath in Emganwini, Bulawayo.

The incident was confirmed by Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.

“We would like to discourage members of the public from walking along footpaths as such places are not safe and they will be putting their lives at risk,” he warned.

He appealed for information that might lead to the arrest of the robber.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect may contact any nearest police station,” he said.

A source close to the incident said while a nurse (name withheld) was walking along a footpath in Emganwini suburb to her home at around 630pm last Sunday, a man pounced on her.

“While she was heading to her home after buying a few items from the shop a man emerged from the bush and stabbed her on the shoulder with a knife. She screamed for help but that not could deter the robber from robbing her,” said the source.

“After that the robber took US$225 and two cell phones before he fled,” the source added.
