POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a 20-year-old man, Mxolisi Ncube of Entumbane, in connection with a murder case.

In a statement, Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, at around 5.30pm near C-turn junction in Entumbane.

“The accused person approached the now deceased Maqhawe Nkomo, a male adult aged 25 years of Entumbane, Bulawayo, who was in the company of his two friends. The accused person started to accuse the deceased that he once assaulted him with his friends some time ago. The now deceased apologized and explained to the accused person that he did not assault him but only intervened to stop the fighting.”

The situation quickly escalated with Ncube producing a flick knife and stabbing the deceased once on the right thigh before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s friends assisted him in reporting the incident to the police, who then summoned an ambulance crew. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the medical team pronounced Nkomo dead.

Following a swift investigation, police arrested Ncube at his home and recovered the weapon used in the stabbing.
“We appeal to members of the public to desist from use of violence in solving disputes to avoid loss of life.

We also warn members of the public against carrying dangerous weapons,” said Inspector Msebele.
