BULAWAYO Metropolitan will field teams to contest this year’s edition of the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) Inter-Provincial Tournament from June 4-5 in Mutare.

The tournament will feature men’s and women’s sides.

Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) secretary-general Francis Dube said they are appealing to the corporate world to assist them with funding for the tournament.

“This edition will feature players aged between 18-25 years.

Provinces will select their best teams and they will battle it out for top honours in the competition.

The competition presents an opportunity for national team coaches to spot players that can be nurtured for senior national teams,” said Dube.

Kudzai Mugezi is the men’s team head coach and will be assisted by Thabani Ndlovu and Rodney Mannie, while Crayton Moyo is the team manager.

Mpumelelo Hlabangana is head coach of the women’s team assisted by Admose Ndlovu and Honest Ngurube, with Zanele Nzima as the team manager.

Technical advisors for both teams are Theo Weale and Muchineripi Hamandishe.

Early this month Bulawayo province played host to the national club championships.

Harare sides Foxes and Vixens were crowned champions in the men’s and women’s divisions respectively.

The championships brought together the best eight teams in the male and female categories in the country to determine the number one basketball sides.
