Bulawayo Select’s bad start to the rugby Super Six season continued this past weekend as they suffered their second consecutive defeat in the hands of Manicaland Province in Mutare.
The team went to Mutare looking to register their first win after they lost their first game against old foes, Old Hararians, but however things did not go according to plan for the Bulawayo boys.
They were beaten 21-10 by the Manicaland boys.
Just like in their first match, Bulawayo head coach Ruben Kumpasa believes small mistakes and a lapse in concentration cost his boys the match.
“We played good rugby again but we made mistakes as well and in rugby when you make mistakes you get punished.” said Kumpasa.
Kumpasa added that they had the game at their reach but the last five minutes proved costly for them. They were trailing 14-10 till the last five minutes where they made quite a number of mistakes and bad decisions and got punished.
“Everything is mental, so when you make a mistake, you have to redeem yourself and not give up,” Kumpasa said.
Despite the defeat, the head coach was impressed with the show his boys have put in their games so far as some of them are young and inexperienced but are playing impressive rugby.
Bulawayo Select will make a trip to the capital for their third game against Harare Province on 10 September and their coach believes they will come out winners.
There are no matches scheduled for this weekend.
