BULAWAYO Metropolitan have selected their final teams to represent the province at the National Darts Association of Zimbabwe (Ndaz) Heroes Holiday tournament in August. The five day tournament will be held at Hillside Teachers College from 9-13 August that will see all the country’s 10 provinces fighting out for the pole position.
Each province will bring two teams, one men and one women’s teams while Bulawayo will have more representatives as the hosts with three men’s, two ladies’ and a youth team.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts vice Chairman, Jackson Ndimande said preparations are on going and was hopeful the tourney would go as planned.
“We have done our preliminary selections, the teams are playing friendly matches and doing final touches.
“As the executive we are looking for sponsors, so that players can just concentrate on playing and so far it’s going well and promising,” he said.
Bulawayo men’s team will seek to build from their runners-up finish at the Easter tournament that was held at Esigodini Agricultural College in Matabelalend South.
Ndimande is confident that Bulawayo teams will excel as team A and B comprise players from Archers, Railstars and Old Nic Mine, the league’s top three teams.
“We are hoping to do well as we have selected best players this time, even with ladies we are hoping for the best as they have the likes of Merlin Bafana and Josephine Jones,” said Ndimande.
As part of the preparations for the tournament Bellevue Sports Club played host to doubles cup on Wednesday, which was won by Brain Ndlovu and Albert Tawanda all part of team A.
