A promising 16-year-old football star from Bulawayo, Arnold Mubango, is reaching out for help to make a life-changing journey to Denmark. The talented midfielder, a standout player for Skies Las Palmas Academy, has been invited with his team to the prestigious Dana Cup tournament.

Arnold, who also represents Gifford High School’s Under-20 side, needs US$1 500 to cover his flight to Europe. While his club will handle other expenses once he’s there, players are expected to fund their own travel. For a boy, who honed his impressive skills on the dusty pitches of Bulawayo, this chance to showcase his talent on a European stage is simply too big to miss.

Sifiso Moyo, the Sports Director at Gifford High School, emphasised just how significant this opportunity is for Arnold.

“The upcoming tournament presents a life-changing opportunity for Mubango, not only to advance his football career but also to further his education.

Moyo highlighted the genuine prospect of Arnold being scouted by European schools and colleges, a potential springboard for his future.

“Arnold plays for our Under-20s and is supposed to go to Denmark.

“We are appealing to the public to assist with donations of any kind. We need US$1 500 for his airfare to Denmark.

“This is a great opportunity for Arnold. As a young player, he could be scouted by various European teams, as many scouts will be in attendance. This could help him progress both in football and academically. At school, he is also in one of the top-performing classes,” he said.

In his own heartfelt words, Arnold shared his determination, viewing the trip as a chance to honour his country.

“My club, Skies Las Palmas Academy, was invited to Denmark. I am humbly asking for help to make this trip possible. We will not only be representing our team but also our country. I am asking for support because I love playing football, and I want to represent Zimbabwe, make my parents proud and fly the national flag high.”

The Skies Las Palmas Youth Academy, established in 2015, is scheduled to depart for Denmark by July 21.
