The race, which is expected to attract at least 200 participants, will be used to select Bulawayo representatives for a competition that will be held next month in Harare.
Chrispen Kazingi, who is part of the organising committee, said everything was set for the race.
“This is an open event and we have been receiving a good response from the participants. The race starts at 7.30am just outside the National University of Science and Technology gate which faces Gwanda road and they will go all the way to Esigodini and come back to finish where they started.
“It seems everyone is raring to go as guys have been seen changing their shocks and repairing their bicycles getting ready for the race. They are aware that we will be choosing two teams to represent Bulawayo in a national competition in Harare next month,” said Kazingi.
Most of the cyclists who will take part in tomorrow’s race participated in the Tour de Falcon last year.
Nkulumo ‘Nkust’ Dube who was part of Team Zimbabwe at Maputo’s All-Africa Games will be hoping to continue with his sterling performances on the national circuit.
Kazingi, Eben Manaba and Ralph Mtupha of Ekhaya Racing Club are some of the cyclists expected to compete tomorrow.
Dube said he was ready for the race.
“I learnt a lot when I represented Zimbabwe at the All- Africa Games and now I just want to continue racing good so that I am considered in future national teams. Saturday’s race will be my first race of the year and I want to start on a high note. I have been training hard and I feel ready to race,” Dube said.
