Bulawayo Town Clerk to start work today

BULAWAYO’s new Town Clerk Mr Christopher Dube (55) is expected to start work today.

The Local Government Board recently approved his appointment to replace the late Middleton Nyoni who died in September last year.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Dube said he was ready to start work. “I am fairly new and cannot say much besides that I am starting work tomorrow and I am ready for it,” said Mr Dube.

A keen tennis player, Mr Dube was born in Nkayi in 1961 and is married, with four children. A retired army major, Mr Dube worked in the finance department of the Zimbabwe National Army between 1980 and 1997.

Between 2003 and 2008, Mr Dube was a director of finance in the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing. In 2009, he was appointed Victoria Falls Town Treasurer and in May 2014, became Town Clerk in the resort town.

The new Bulawayo Town Clerk holds a law degree from the University of South Africa, has a Masters degree in Business Administration obtained from the Zimbabwe Open University (Zou) and a Diploma in Business Leadership from the Zimbabwe Institute of Management.

He also holds a Chartered nstitute of Secretaries (CIS) Diploma, a Higher National Diploma in business studies from the Bulawayo Polytechnic and a London Chamber of Commerce  (LCC) certificate in public relations. —
