Bulawayo woman arrested with dagga worth $225 000

POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested Tsitsi Tafirenyika (55) from Northend suburb in Bulawayo for selling dagga.

On 10 April detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department Drugs and Narcotics Bulawayo received information to the effect that the accused was selling dagga at her house.

“Police continue to warn members of the public to desist from dealing in dangerous drugs as they will face the law following the arrest of Tsitsi Tafirenyika Similo. Detectives found her with 7 sachets of dagga, 21 sachets of dagga seeds, small plastic packaging and one box of sizzlers were recovered in her dining room leading to the arrest of the accused person,” said Inspector Abednico Ncube Bulawayo, the police spokesperson.

“The weight of the dagga was found to be 1,33kg valued at $225 000-00. we would like to appreciate the members of the public who helped the police with information that led to the arrest of the accused person.

The country has declared war on drug and substance abuse, mainly targeting supply chains.

Addressing thousands of youths drawn from the southern region during the Economic Development Conference towards a drug-free nation for the attainment of Vision 2030 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo on 12 April, President Mnangagwa said all arms of Government will continue to expunge every point along the supply chain to deal with the source and destination points of illicit drugs and substances.

President Mnangagwa said harmful drugs and substances will not be allowed to proliferate in Zimbabwe with Government having scaled up the fight against the scourge.
