A golden opportunity has arisen for Bulawayo’s thriving creative community as Zifa launches the “Warrior Pride: Brand Design Battle,” a nationwide search for a fresh, inspiring identity for Zimbabwe’s national football teams.  This initiative, officially announced in Harare by Zifa president Nqobile Magwizi, extends a bold invitation to artists, designers, and football enthusiasts in Matabeleland to take centre stage in shaping the Warriors’ brand and kit.

For years, Bulawayo has been a hub of creativity and football passion, producing legendary players and renowned designers. Now, this competition offers local creatives the chance to showcase their talents on a national and global stage.

“This is a ground-breaking campaign that hands the power of branding to the people,” Magwizi stated. “For the first time, Zimbabweans, whether professional designers or football fans, will shape the visual identity of our national football teams.”

The competition is open to all Zimbabweans, but Bulawayo’s renowned creative industry, which has birthed some of the nation’s most celebrated artists and designers, is being urged to rise to the challenge.

The winning designer will not only earn US$3 000 but also an all-expenses-paid trip to watch the Warriors’ Afcon 2025 opener against Egypt in Morocco. More importantly, their work will be immortalised as the official brand of the Zimbabwe national team.

The submission deadline is May 15, and entries will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of experts, alongside a public voting process where fans will have a say in the final.
