The Bulgarian investor Adam Markov, who is accused of stealing a top-of-the-range car and smuggling it into the country, has placed the State on notice that if it fails to provide him with a trial date on the next remand appearance, he will move to have the matter removed from remand.
Markov appeared before magistrate Tilda Mazhande and is now being represented by Admire Rubaya.

He was remanded to February 28.

“We believe that there’s no case as it is a clear abuse of the justice system where certain individuals intend to settle scores with the accused person.

“The State was very eager to arrest the accused person and they are now developing jelly legs, they must finalise their investigations within reasonable time so that we go to trial where we will destroy their case,” said Rubaya.
