COMMUNITIES in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South province that border with the Maitengwe Dam have received a donation of two pedigree Brahman bulls to improve cattle farming in the area.

The bulls were donated through a partnership between Bulilima Rural District Council (RDC) and its safari operator, Mvimi Safaris, under the Community Areas Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (Campfire).

The handover ceremony took place on Friday at Matiwaza Hall in Ndolwane, marking a major step in a project aimed at transforming local cattle breeds and improving the national herd.

Beneficiaries of the two bulls are Campfire frontline wards namely Bambadzi Ward 10 and Makhulela Ward 9.

The two wards border with the Maitengwe Dam which is the lifeline of the Campfire programme as it attracts tourists interested in sport huntinig.

The donation comes barely a month after the handover of six pedigree Brahman bulls to six Bulilima traditional leaders on behalf of their communities.

Such a gesture is meant to cement cordial relations between the safari operator and the communities who for years have been accustomed to human-wildlife conflicts.
