LATEST : More details emerge over Human Rights Commissioner’s death

Fresh details emerging reveal that the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner, Dr Martin Muduva, died after he was hit on the head with an unknown object that inflicted deep cuts on his head and right hand following a misunderstanding with his wife over extra marital affairs.

Comm Muduva (42) died this Wednesday morning at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after he succumbed to the injuries while the wife, Lyliosa Chirara (43), died instantly after drinking poison.

Police investigations are still in progress.

It is alleged that on September 9 (Wednesday) at around 0020 hours, the couple was sleeping in a room when a misunderstanding over an extra marital affair arose.

Chirara is reported to have hit Muduva with a yet to be identified object that is suspected to be an axe.

Upon realising that Muduva was seriously injured, she drank rat poison.

A neighbour was informed about the incident and rushed to the scene. The couple was taken to a 24-hour medical centre where Chirara was pronounced dead on admission.

Comm Muduva was transferred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital for treatment as he was in critical condition.

However, he later succumbed to the injuries.

The bodies of the couple were taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for post mortem.
