Bulilima Constituency is Zanu-PF turf: Minister Phuti

THE ruling party Zanu-PF will leave no stone unturned to win the Bulilima Constituency and ensure that developmental projects that the Government has embarked on continue for the next five years in line with the Second Republic’s thrust of leaving no one and no place behind, a Deputy Minister has said.

The country is expected to hold harmonised elections in the second half of the year.
Bulilima candidate for Zanu-PF Cde Dingumuzi Phuti said the constituency belongs to Zanu-PF and he is confident he will win resoundingly.

Cde Phuti, who is the Deputy Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, was speaking at the unveiling of a drilling rig bought by local farmer Mr Mkhulunyelwa Nkomo in Somnene in Bulilima District yesterday.

He said the opposition should not be under the illusion that they can wrestle the constituency from the ruling party.
“The first five years of our term was to understand the needs of our people, implement developmental projects that better the lives of our people in line with the targets that we set for ourselves as politicians.

“We set five key areas that we felt needed our immediate attention and I’m glad to say four of those targets were met since we came into office.

“One area of concern is the state of our roads. One of our roads from Plumtree to Ndolwane was last done around 1993 and the other one from Dombodema to Mayitengwe in 1996, which means they have outlived their lifespans,” said Cde Phuti.

He said the two roads were now in a bad state and the rains that were received last rainy season had worsened the situation.
“The second term will give us the opportunity to work on those grey areas order to improve the lives of our people,” said Cde Phuti

He said the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) did not do well in the constituency as a result of poor workmanship by the contractors that were awarded the tenders to fix the roads.

“We have re-tendered to ensure that competent companies work on those roads and I’m happy to say that the Mayitengwe/Plumtree Road was one of the roads that was done properly under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme,” said Cde Phuti.

Cde Phuti said Zanu-PF was working to improve the people’s livelihoods hence its continued victory in Bulilima.
“I don’t believe in losing especially when there is humility to ride on, the ruling party approaches people with humility so I’m very confident that winning this constituency will be a walk in the park.

What is important is understanding the cultural fibre of the community that you work with first then sell the manifesto of the ruling party and convince the communities that we are right servants to work with for continued development,” he said.–@RaymondJaravaza
