BULILIMA District in Matabeleland South Province recorded an over two percent improvement in the 2025 “O” Level Zimsec examinations.
The district, which borders Tsholotsho, Mangwe Districts, and the neighbouring country Botswana, has 22 schools, with one of them set to have its first “O” Level examinations this year.
The average district pass rate is 49, 90% an improvement of 2, 58% compared to 2024 “O” Level results of 47, 32 %.
The nation achieved a historic 35,26 percent pass rate, an improvement from 33,19 percent recorded in 2024.
The total number of “O” Level candidates with five Ordinary Levels and above in Bulilima schools is Thekwane (127), Bambadzi (1), Bezu (7), Dombodema (35), Gwambe (5), Himago (2), Madlambudzi (28), Malalume (15), Maqhekeni (13), Matjinge (17), Mazwaligwe (0), Mzwanyana (4), Nlongwe (6), Ntunungwe (6), Phakama (17), Sikhathini (39), Siyaphambili (6), Solusi (75), Tokwana (14), Usher (98) and Zenzele (2) while Tjemahale will have their first candidates this year.
Bulilima District Schools Inspector (DSI) Mr Gobile Gobile said he is reading the riot act to schools that recorded zero percent pass rate.
“We have experienced an exponential rise in our pass rate as a District, a rise of about 2,58% to an average District pass rate of 49,90%, way above the national O-level pass rate of 35%.
“We have one school, Mazwaligwe Secondary, that has scored a 0%. l promise that is their last 0% because I am literally shifting my office to Mazwaligwe this term to see that the teachers work,” said Mr Gobile.
