Bulldogs beat spirited St John’s

Sables’ match against Kenya at Harare Sports Club over the weekend.
The match was spiced up by the glut of talent in both teams with the Bulldogs’ Tinashe Toriro catching the eye.

Churchill mounted tremendous pressure on their opponents early on, camping in enemy territory for the first 10 minutes.
Despite St John’s defiant defence, the Bulldogs turned to be their own worst enemies, wasting a number of chances, with the chief culprit being Linience Tambwara who blew three clear chances with the boot.

The Bulldogs were duly punished and they found themselves trailing 5-10 at half-time.
The game’s complexion changed after the break as Churchill came back a revitalised side.

A try each from wing Mkululi Nghela, Lazarus Chisaya and three conversions from Lenience Tambwara sealed the victory for the Bulldogs.
Centre Tinashe Toriro had earlier on put his name on the scoresheet for the Bulldogs with a deserved try.

Following last week’s 67-0 demolition of Eaglesvale, Churchill followed up with another fine performance.
“The boys are playing well, they showed a good fighting spirit which won the game for us.

“We are looking forward to more wins in our next assignments”, said Paul Kaunda, Churchill’s deputy sports director.
In another match, Prince Edward were held to a 14-14 draw by a resilient Peterhouse.

Last week the Tigers lost 9-11 to St John’s having also lost to St. George’s.
