Sharks Rugby Academy in South Africa on a scholarship.
The two will be focusing on both sport and academics when they join the club on a long-term development basis.
Simba Mandioma, who was a student at Churchill last year, will join Tambwera and Chigumbura after he also impressed the Sharks’ scouts during a tour.
The trials were held at St John’s early this year and five players were shortlisted.
Tambwera, who was recently in South Africa, and his colleague Chigumbura impressed the Sharks’ scouts during several tournaments that were played in the schools’ rugby season.
The duo have good leadership qualities on and off the field which saw them getting the headboy and vice-headboy responsibilities respectively.
Churchill sports director Zingwe is hopeful that this could mark the beginning of great things for the players.
“The boys were outstanding in several games that we took part in and they deserve the rewards.
“The pair had a good season in tournaments like the Cottco and the local league where we played the likes of St George’s and Peterhouse.
“It is a great honour for the players who played well and we are happy for the duo,” said Zingwe.
