Dear Tete Barbara —-
I am a 14-year-old boy doing form one at a local high school. I grew up in the ghetto where everyone made fun of my nose and now I go to school in town where even my new fellow students continue teasing me.
Even my siblings at home and my teachers make fun of me about my nose. I hate my nose and it really makes me feel bad. Sometimes I secretly peg it and squeeze it to change its shape but it is not working. Is there a cream or medication I can use to make it smaller? Please help me!

Son, you are not the first to be made fun of at school and you definitely will not be the last. Bullying is not a behaviour reserved for a certain class of people but it is something done by people who have closed mind sets.
No one chooses their physical features and therefore no one must be held accountable for how they appear. Studies by behaviour specialists state that bullies shift attention away from themselves and onto others who appear more fragile. Be bold and walk tall with your focus on making a better life for yourself.
Do not torture yourself with pegs it will just make you have scars. Look at yourself in the mirror everyday and tell yourself you are handsome. Reflect more on the things that you like about yourself, do well and study hard.
