MOTOR Action owner Eric Rosen said selling the club at this moment is completely out of the question but the Mighty Bulls have to save their Premiership status for next season. Rosen established Motor Action in 1999 after he bought the franchise of Blackpool. Motor Action became an embodiment of professionalism for the Premiership when they acquired their own stadium and a clubhouse at the turn of the millennium.
Their greatest moment was in 2010 when they won the Premiership title but now the club is cutting a sorry state as they anchor table.
Reports had filtered in the capital this week that the Mighty Bulls franchise has been put up for grabs but Rosen yesterday clarified their position.
“Our focus at the moment is to get some partners for the club but partners are not coming on board.
“We are also looking for sponsors but we have not found any sponsors to help our club.
“The club is certainly not up for sale but we have to focus on getting partners as well as getting out of the relegation,” said Rosen.
Motor Action have tried to partner the Buy Zimbabwe campaign but it appears the move is bearing little fruit.
During the mid-season, Motor Action lost 10 senior players who opted out because of the poor financial state at the club.
Former skipper Clement Matawu, his brother Louis, Dylan Chivandire, Tigere Mapuranga, goalkeeper Francis Nicho, Reuben Machaya, Charles Chiutsa, Lawrence Mtizwa and Charles Mutero left the club.
“Some senior players have opted to leave the club because of the situation and we had to release them.
“But in their place we have engaged a couple of youngsters whom we believe should perform well.
“The youngsters are eager to please and we hope could save the team,” said Rosen.
Motor Action coach, Joey Antipas, has pointed out that escaping relegation will be no mean feat.
“Selling the team is out of the question at the moment because very few people would be interested in taking a team that is down.
“So the focus is to fight our way up and there are a lot of other teams around the relegation zone, just like there are a number of teams in the championship race.
“We have a big challenge and I hope we will move up and if we want to sale then we might consider for next season but as I said focus is on getting partners and survival in the league,” said Rosen.
Motor Action will resume their league fixture with an away tie to Dynamos, which is likely to improve their financial base, slightly, but certainly not their position on the table.
