ZVISHAVANE Bulls will be entering the lion’s den for the second time when they lock horns with Old Hararians in a Lion Lager National Rugby League match set for Old Hararians Ground tomorrow. Last week the asbestos miners were beaten 69-7 by the same team at McAdam Field and chances of them turning the tables look very slim.
The league’s new boys have been struggling to find their feet and are anchoring the log with a single point from seven games.
Club technical manager Darlington Majoni is keeping a brave face in the face of adversity praying for divine intervention to save their sinking ship.
‘‘People should not read much into the results because they are not a true reflection of our performances. We always play well against the opposition but fail to get the points. I hope and pray that we will finally get it right one day. Against Old Hararians we are looking for a better show,’’ said Majoni.
Zvishavane Bulls will be missing their influential player Emmanuel Munyoro who is out injured.
Other key players Danmore Mukuta, flank William Zingoni and scrum half Mufaro Majoni need to work extra hard to restrict Old Hararians and keep the score-line respectable.
While all is not rosy for Zvishavane Bulls, Old Hararians are enjoying a rich vein of form having amassed 29 points from seven games.
If what Old Hararians chairman Lawson Mtungwiza said is anything to go by then Zvishavane Bulls will be in for another big hiding.
“We are meeting Zvishavane Bulls with all guns blazing unlike last week when we beat them 69-7. We were missing a number of our key players when we played in Zvishavane. On Saturday (tomorrow) we will be fired up and raring to go,’’ said Mtungwiza.
Missing from Old Hararians were fly half Ticharasa Makwanya, wing Gardner Nechironga and fullback Tangai Nemadire who were all with the Cheetahs squad in Russia.
Mtungwiza however, said they respect their opponents and tomorrow’s encounter is a new game altogether.
“We cannot be over complacent because Saturday’s (tomorrow) encounter is a new game. We respect Zvishavane Bulls although they are finding life a bit difficult in the league. They need to work on some aspects of the game. It is not easy to walk into the big boys league and make it.
Their players are still finding their feet and I hope one day they will make it,’’ said Mtungwiza.
Meanwhile, the other Lion Lager National Rugby League games have been postponed.
