HUNDREDS of people from all over the Eastern border city thronged Raylton Sports Club last Saturday to enjoy the popular Burnout Manias. The event saw an amazing growth in spectators’ popularity compared to November 2015. It commenced at 11am and ended late after 10pm. It was being hosted by the uptown nightclub, BarCode as well as Gallivers Night Club for the pre and after party.
Team Ice was more skilful compared to the last time as they came up with two more modified and powerful BMW E30s on top of the familiar 320.i and 325.
Cici Boy, Boss Ice, Jadah and Gaza General were quite unpredictable behind the wheels as they brought in new stunts like drifting, brushing and figure eights among others.
However, Team Jenyaz led by Clyde Jani, popularly known as ‘CJ’ proved better than the previous November 2015 competition where they failed to live up to the required standards due to their cars’ performances. This time their cars’ were perfectly modified up to the same level as those of the Harare stars.
There were also two more unidentified spinners from Mutare. Besides the supercharged cars and bikes for thrills galore, the usual variety of music, braais and the free flow of all manner of drinks were available.
BarCode spokesperson, Brian ‘DJ Stylez’ Mavhiza, said: “The sport is growing in popularity in the country and we are happy that we are managing to make Mutare people enjoy the same entertainment provided in Harare. We will make sure the team comes back soon to give us more,” said DJ Stylez.
In an interview with Ice Motors spokesperson, Cici Boy, he thanked Mutare fans for the support they are giving them and promised to come back with more in a short period of time.
“It was indeed a great day and there has been a great improvement in attendance compared to the last time. I would like to thank Mutare fans for the support that they are giving us. We will be back here within a very short period of time to give you more,” said Cici.
He added that he was happy with Mutare spinners’ improvements.
