Bus accident claims six

Six people were killed while 39 others were injured when a Mutare-bound Trip-Trans bus was involved in an accident near Kushinga Phikelela Polytechnic on the 87km peg along the Harare-Mutare Highway.

Witnesses say the bus veered off the road and overturned, landing on its side, killing five on the spot, while another passenger died on the way to Marondera Hospital. Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident but was yet to confirm the circumstances leading to the accident as the investigations were in progress.

However, reports say the driver failed to negotiate a corner when he wanted to stop and pick up a passenger. — Herald Reporter/ZBC News.
