“Operating under the same name has created tension with P O Box Reloaded which has greatly affected our creative process.”Popular local comic group P O Box has rebranded it’s name to Bus Stop TV in a bid to connect with people from all walks of life and partnering with filmmakers. The branding is sponsored by Nash Paintings and comes after the new actors Sharon Chideu (Maggi), Samantha Kureya (Gonyeti) and Prosper Ngomashi (The Comic Pastor) are making headlines after the former actors Rolland Lunga (Boss Kheda) and Admire Kuzhangaira (Bhuthisi) left the show.

The group was founded and directed by Luckie Aaroni, a photojournalist.

In an interview with The Herald, director Aaroni said as part of their rebranding, they are collaborating with Mufakose Film Society and Totally Second Animation Studio.

“We chose Bus Stop TV among many other names because a bus stop is that one place in our communities that brings people from all walks of life together, affording them a chance to interact and talk about topical issues.

As such we will continue creating content that will spark reasonable debate among our audience,” he said.

Aaroni said their social media platforms will act as the bus stop, bringing people from all walks of life together and afford them a chance to interact about topical issues.

“As you know we are in the technology period. First you hit it with the social media.

“This rebranding process is part of our growth as a comic start up and production house. As part of our growth, strategic partnerships have been made to produce more exciting projects. It is from these partnerships that an animation version of Bus Stop TV will be unveiled to our audience. As a production house we have decided to set the yardstick further by partnering with budding filmmakers to produce short films, which will feature at least one of the Bus Stop TV faces,” he said.

Aaroni later explained the split which some said the reasons were swept under the carpet.

Some close sources revealed that the director had a misunderstanding with the former crew over contracts and how the finances were handled.

“Operating under the same name has created tension with P O Box Reloaded which has greatly affected our creative process. Nonetheless since our split we have grown our audience. As you may have had it is unfortunate that the native P O Box team had conflicting interests that resulted in a split of the Comic start up. As a result of this two P O Boxes have been in existence, P O Box Reloaded which is the other group that split out of P O Box which remained operational. We have worked with companies of repute such as Steward Bank, PSI, National Foods Nash paints, Jan Jam shop among many others. The split like in our political landscape has brought a lot of confusion. Our clients and our audience have been affected by this, in our bid to end the confusion we have decided to rebrand,” he said
