Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda yesterday took responsibility for poor communication in the burial arrangements of Mazowe North MP Engineer Edgar Chidavaenzi (zanu-pf), who died in a hotel room last month.

Adv Mudenda made the admission in the National Assembly after several legislators complained that there was no proper communication relayed to them regarding the burial arrangements of Eng Chidavaenzi, who was buried at his farm in Mvurwi, Mashonaland Central province.

This was after Glen View North MP Mr Fani Munengami (MDC-T) rose on a point of order to complain on a communication breakdown between the administration of Parliament and legislators. He added that they wanted to be assisted with transport to give a befitting send-off to their colleague.

This was after the House had risen to observe a minute of silence in honour of Eng Chidavaenzi.

Mr Munengami’s point was supported by other legislators across the political divide who said there was a tendency by Parliament not to give adequate information whenever a fellow legislator died.

“As Head of Parliament, I take full responsibility for whatever arrangement that ought to have been made. I will discuss this issue with the Clerk of Parliament (Mr Kennedy Chokuda) so that in future, arrangements are made and that you give a befitting send-off to an Hon Member,” said Adv Mudenda.
