The Zimbabwe Youth Development side will face South Africa Youth Development and a Jamerican (sic) team.
Bushman Rock Polo Club is a newly established club in Zimbabwe, tucked away in a beautiful valley, nestled in-between vineyards and wildlife conservation areas and is approximately 40km to the east of Harare.
The Jamerican side is a combined Jamaican and American side with two players each from Jamaica and America.
The Jamaicans, Shane Chin and John Biles arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday while the American players — Marissa and Kelly Wells are expected in tonight.
Chin said that they were happy to be in Africa for their first time and were looking forward to this reciprocal tour.
The Zimbabwe Polo Association and The Jamaican Polo Association have been building a strong relationship over the past few years after recent visits to Jamaica.
Now the Jamericans’ trip will also involve a tour around Zimbabwe sponsored by Husqvarna and Africa Albida.
Jonathan Passaportis of Bushman Rock said that they were happy to host the polo tournament and encouraged Zimbabweans to come and watch the games.
“Polo is a sport which can be enjoyed by the whole family and our aim is to create an atmosphere where all can enjoy.
“It will be two fun-filled days of activity.
“With a playground, pony rides and a jumping castle adults will be able to kick back and relax knowing the youngsters are safe and enjoying themselves.
“There will also be picnics and divot stomping where spectators wander all over the field stomping down the torn up turf,” said Passaportis.
The Omnia Zimbabwe Youth team includes Smart Kusiwa, Alexis Wood, Judah Day and Ben Stodart while the Mega Zimbabwe Duikers side is captained by Davie Meikle and has BJ Bowen, Barry Browne and Nicola Alcombe as its members.
The first game on Saturday pitting the two youth sides will be at 2pm followed by the senior sides two hours later.
On Sunday games will have the same running order with the youth teams playing at 10.30am and the senior sides at 12 noon.
