SOUTH African actress Sophie Ndaba, known to many as Queen Moroka, arrived in the City of Kings yesterday afternoon. Members of the Esteemed Business Women group welcomed her in style, with performances by Intombi Zomnqangala, Dzibalemvula, and the Young Women for ED group.
We caught up with Ndaba as she enjoyed breakfast at Haefelis. She shared details about her role as the VVIP guest at today’s Esteemed Business Women Event at Lavinia Gardens. The event aims to empower businesswomen from various backgrounds, making Ndaba a perfect choice due to her inspiring life experiences and willingness to encourage attendees.
Expressing her excitement, Ndaba declared Zimbabwe a second home and stated her eagerness to return whenever possible.

“I am happy to be in Bulawayo. Remember this is my home, my grandfather was born here. My mother was brought up here. I was brought up here so I will always come back home. My journey was perfect. I did not encounter any challenges.
“The delays which happened at the airport yesterday were that the authorities had to check with the National Arts Council to confirm that I am authorised to be here,” she said.
Sophie encouraged women who will be attending the main event today, to stand firm and not be moved by trials of life.

“I am here to say to the women, your past is not your future, your beginning does not define who you are going to become, the future is in your hands and it is up to you as an individual the changes you will make that build a better woman or businessperson as we are here for business.
“Even if you lost your business, you can still get back up, when I was sick I lost all my businesses.
“In those three years I lost everything as I could not see anything as my mind was in another space.

“Not that I was crazy but I was not there just like in a family and your sister dies and everyone will be coming and collecting things without you even noticing as you will be in the mourning period,” she stated.
Sophie ended by giving a word of advice to all women who will be at Lavinia gardens today.
“I say to the Esteemed Business Women of Zimbabwe, take your business seriously and as a legacy. Let it be something you will leave for your next generation.
“Create a name for yourself, run an honest business, respect and honour your clients and do not look down on others. Make sure your business is up to standard as competition is alive so treat your business as a competition,” she said.
