BUSINESS owners operating at the Chigumira Business Centre, Luveve, have condemned the violent behaviour of patrons who disregard the sanctity of human life by resorting to brutal assaults and even murder during altercations.
They describe these actions as barbaric and emphasised the urgent need for a safer environment for all customers.
This follows the tragic double murder of two family members after a violent altercation outside Kidza Nightclub last Tuesday morning. The incident allegedly involved seven suspects believed to be artisanal gold miners. Bishop Ncube (46) sustained deep head and thigh wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mpilo Central Hospital. Malach Ndlovu (40) was later found dead a few meters from the scene, also with multiple stab wounds.
Mr Tapiwanashe Mapfumo, the proprietor of Kidza Nightclub, stated that security at his establishment diligently works to weed out rowdy individuals, as violence is not tolerated.
“One of the men who was stabbed during the confrontation with the artisanal miners was well-known for being violent and had been banned from my Bar long ago due to past violence tendencies,” said Mr Mapfumo. “On the night he was attacked, CCTV footage showed him arguing with some individuals before a fight broke out.”
Mr Joseph Dzova, owner of Matsika Shisa Nyama, expressed his commitment to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
“Violence has no place at the Chigumira Shopping Centre, where hundreds gather every weekend to enjoy themselves. We have worked hard to build a solid reputation as a family-friendly entertainment center. Violence is detrimental to business, and we strongly condemn it,” said Mr Dzova.
Mr. Brian Samuriwo of KoSamuriwo Pub and Grill, echoes the same sentiments, expressing his dismay over the recent deaths outside Kidza Nightclub.
