EMBATTLED businessman, Francesco Marconati, who is in remand prison for defaulting community service, will know his fate today when magistrate Simon Kandiero hands down his ruling on the matter.

Marconati was ordered by magistrate Kandiero to perform 105 hours of community service after he was convicted of threatening the complainant, Li Song.

The State produced a letter that was written by the director of community services, which stated that Marconati and his son Alessandro, had not complied with the court order for them to perform community service.

The State proved that on September 28, 2022, Li Song was outside Harare Magistrates Court, after attending a criminal court case where Marconati was facing fraud allegations, in which Li Song was the complainant.

She was approached by Marconati who threatened her by pointing his finger at her saying “be careful…I will kill you if you do not withdraw the case and you are a piece of s***”.

Alessandro pulled his father back but he kept making the threats.

Prosecutor Chirenje yesterday called for the court to impose the three-month sentence that was set aside since Marconati has failed to comply with the order to perform unpaid work.
