Businessman ‘rapes’ daughter

Police have since launched a manhunt for the alleged “business advisor” and inyanga, one Isaiah Ngwenya (61), who reportedly went into hiding following the arrest of his client.
“There are allegations that the inyanga, Ngwenya, also raped the 14-year-old victim before he instructed her father to have sexual intercourse with her several times. This, he alleged, would help boost his kombis and grocery shop business,” said the police source.

The source said the rape incident only came to light last week when the accused polygamous businessman, later tried to kick the 14-year-old girl out of the family house.

It is alleged that the man sired the 14-year-old girl with his second wife.
The source said the attempt to kick the victim out of the house by the businessman was in fulfillment of the instructions given by the inyanga.
“The accused who is suspected to have been sexually abusing his 14-year-old daughter since last year was supposed to then chuck the girl out of the house at a certain stage. He had been failing to find an excuse to chase her out of the house until last week when he went berserk and started beating her up before he told the victim’s mother that he no longer wanted to see their daughter at home,” said the source.

The victim’s mother then asked her daughter why her father wanted her out of the house, the girl then indicated that she had been sexually abused by her father on several occasions.

“This was when the mother accompanied her daughter to Gweru Rural Police Station and filed rape charges against the father, leading to his arrest on Sunday,” said the source.
The businessman was yesterday arraigned before Gweru provincial magistrate Mrs Phathekile Msipa.

The businessman who is represented by Mr Peter Dzimba was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to Tuesday for a bail ruling.
For the State, Mr Michael Mhene told the court that some time in 2011, the accused, who has two wives, was instructed by an inyanga to have sexual intercourse with one of his daughters to boost his businesses.

Mr Mhene said the accused committed the rape offence on his 14-year-old daughter on several occasions last year.
The court heard that on 24 March this year the accused again raped the complainant before he told her that he no longer wanted her at his house.
Mr Mhene said the rape offence came to light last week when the accused insisted that the complainant leave his home, resulting in her opening up to her mother.
